PREVENT CHAOS
Proverbs 29:18 , May 13, 2023
After 23 years in power, Tunisia's president, Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali, was forced to resign. Thevacancy of the leader immediately made news and eventually ignited a wave of mass chaos in the community. Manyresidentssaid that chaos, looting, shootings and various criminal acts were rife in various places. Thesituation is worse when there is no security force at the riot sites so that residents must carry out independent security. As the situation eased, Prime Minister Gihannouchi immediately ordered the military to secure the situation. "This country is full of terrible fears, may God bring us peace," one woman, Lilia Sfazi, told Reuters, "We can't livelonger with this kind of fear."
Theabove passage is just one example of what would happen if there were no laws governing human life. Insteadof being orderly, what happened was that the situation became chaotic because everyone felt entitled to act as he wished. Therefore, laws are indispensable to help people live their lives better. Especiallyif the law is a law given by God directly, or what we usually call revelation. Unlikethe flawed human beings here and there, God's law is perfect and good for everyone who wants to do it. "All God-inspired writings are useful for teaching, for revealing error, for correcting behavior, and for training people in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:6). this is the truth that we must always remember and practice in our daily lives, so that our lives will not only be better but also more pleasing before God.
Today, maywe not only be content to be people who know God's laws. Iam satisfied because we have the awareness and earnest effort to obey it. Do that, and our lives will be far from chaos, but more orderly and better. (Ryu)
"When there is no revelation, the people run wild. Bblessed is he who keeps the law (Proverbs 29:18)"
